Below are the 2nd Batch of Photos in the recently concluded Battle of the Best in Luneta
The dressing room area where the fighters are having a light moment clowning in front of the cam.

The tent at the Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz in Rizal Park is jam full of spectators waiting for a good show of muay thai skills.

In the middle is the Minister of Culture of Thailand, Hon. Teera Slukpetch and on his right is the Ambassador of Thailand to the Philippines, Hon. Kulkumut Singhara Na Ayudhya.

Adversaries in the ring, but outside the battle arena, the RP team are close friends. Here, Zaidi Laruan and Jay Harold Gregorio recuperating in the medic area after their fight, while Jonathan Polosan and Toby Reyes are goofing off on the cam.

The judges and jury of the event.

PTT President Khun Siripong Phoungphaka, the ever generous supporter of Muay Association of the Philippines. Here, he’s giving away the cash prizes of the winners of the tournament. MAP is very thankful for all of the support Khun Phoungphaka and and his company, PTT, has given.

The RP team all requested me to post their photos with Krista Valle, a TV celebrity and niece of MAP Chairman, Robin Padilla.

This shows that we have a healthy relationship with the Thais.
Look at Zaide! Hehehehe! Too bad Romnick wasn’t around.
Now that you mentioned Robin Padilla’s name, I am in agony over his show “Totoy Bato”. I hope Robin gets a very good Action Movie/TV Show and good exposure showing his Muay skills. The Philippines is in need of good fight choreographers.
Sometimes I lament over some of the illogical fight sequences. Fight choreographers should not just choreograph a combo punch, kick, but behind the technique there is a purpose and strategy, and I believe our choreographers should take note of that. Not just punch and kick, block, etc…. My friends and I (with no disrespect to Richard Gutierrez) laughed when we saw the fight scenes in the defunct GMA TV Show “Sugo”. Geez! Ok. I am ranting. But hopefully Mr. Robin Padilla gets a very good project and a very good modern and updated fight choreographer and a good director.
I am afraid to say that “Totoy Bato” is not an Action/Drama – but Drama….more buckets of tears…less action. I won’t be surprised if the ratings are low.

Be careful there, I know the fight director of the show
. He he he.
Kru Billy and Ajarn Pudpadnoy appeared on the show. Kru Billy portrayed a muay thai fighter while Ajarn Pudpadnoy appeared as a fight commentator.

Hehehehe! Apologies to the fight director. But I know that you know what I mean.
It’s just that still I am hoping that we could at least be on par with the martial arts choreography of Thailand or even at least Hong Kong.
Well the show is ending soon. I didn’t even get to see them. Most of these action dramas tend to become drama. Too much crying and snot-filled runny noses in our local tv shows today.
I remember seeing an old Hong Kong movie that was shot here in the Philippines. Robin Shou and Cynthia Luster were in it. Robin Shou fought a Filipino martial artist (of which I am reluctant to say his name)at the end of the movie and geez it was plain to see that the Pinoy martial artist was gassing and was at his threshold of speed and endurance as he tried to keep up with Robin Shou.

Uhm…I forgot the title. I’ve been searching the web for it but these old HK films have different titles for every nation it is shown.
It is a film around the late 80’s or early 90s. Since the Pinoy policemen still wear the old PNP brown uniform.

I might be pertaining to a different Robin Shou. He he he. Robin Shou is the actor who portrayed Liu Kang in Mortal Combat in 1995. That’s why I’m surprised when you said that he shot a film here in the Philippines.

Actually we are talking of the same Robin Shou. The film he and Cynthia Luster did here was one of his launching films.

Don’t worry. I won’t tell him. He he he.
Robin Shou of Mortal Combat? Didn’t know that he did a movie with Cynthia Luster and was shot in the Philippines. What’s the title of the movie?

Really? didn’t know that Robin Shou was a Hong Kong actor before he got it big in Mortal Combat

He first started out in Hong Kong movies. Then onto Mortal Kombat, Beverly Hills Ninja, but after those movies, he did not get good projects. He did a cameo in DOA and had a part in Street Fighter – The Legend of Chun Li.

Really? I didn’t noticed him at DOA? Perhaps its because of the female leads, specially Holly Valance. He he he
